Sanjeev Kumar leaves his pregnant girlfriend (whaeeda Rehman), marries into a rich family and establishes himself as a construction tycoon. Years later, walks in Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) who vows to avenge his mothers humiliation and destroy Sanjeev Kumar's empire. He sets up his own construction business with the help of sanjeev Kumar's arch enemy Prem Chopra. This relationship however goes sour as Amitabh slaps Prem Chopra for insulting his father. Shashi Kapoor and Poonam Dhillon act as Sanjeev Kumar's children who eventaully leave their father realising that he was wrong. A broken and frustrated man, Sanjeev Kumar hires Prem Chopra to kill Amitabh not knowing that he is his own son.

Yash Chopra directed this well scripted modern family drama that had excellent performances by Sanjeev Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan.
